The family of a 28 year old woman found dead at Kasoa's Peace Town has urged police to swiftly investigate her suspected murder.
Monica Mawuse Bosso was found dead on Sunday morning on her family's compound at Peace Town, in the Awutu Senya East Municipality. She was discovered beneath a mango tree, with a headgear around her neck tied to a lower branch.
The circumstances of her death have raised suspicions of possible gang rape followed by murder. Her family has appealed for a swift and thorough investigation.
Esther Nyavor, a cousin of the deceased, said she was shocked by the incident. She asked the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that justice is served.
Preliminary findings by the Central East Regional Police Command point towards rape and murder. Crime scene experts reportedly found parts of her clothing forcefully torn at the scene, along with her mobile phone.
Investigators also detected signs of sexual assault. They collected samples for forensic analysis as they work to establish what happened.
Police are also probing the suspected fraudulent withdrawal of GH¢2,000 from the deceased's Mobile Money account. The withdrawal is believed to have happened around the time of the incident.
Opinion leaders in the area have also voiced shock. They have called for heightened security and a comprehensive investigation so that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
