Police have retrieved the iPhone 12 of missing phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, allegedly sold for GH¢100 by a suspect in his death.
The Ghana Police Service says Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe allegedly sold the device to Sunday Omeje, who has been cautioned and detained for allegedly dishonestly receiving stolen property.
Mr Kyere, 33, who traded at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, was reported missing on September 22 after leaving his Kokomlemle residence on September 19 in his Honda Civic.
According to preliminary police investigations, Sarah Osei Adams allegedly lured Mr Kyere to Mr Tefe's residence at Teshie Agyebla. Police say Mr Tefe and Ms Adams later confessed to involvement in the incident.
Police allege that during a confrontation, Mr Tefe attacked Mr Kyere with a metallic object. Investigators say Mr Kyere was subsequently moved to another room, where he was left unattended and later died.
The police account further alleges that the body was transported in a Kia Morning on September 20 to an area near the motorway, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. Partially burnt remains were recovered at Community 18 on September 21.
Mr Kyere's mother and an uncle subsequently identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24, according to the police.
Three suspects, Mr Tefe, Ms Adams and Josiah Obodai, have been arrested following investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit. Mr Obodai is being investigated over the alleged disposal of the body, while police have impounded his father's Kia Morning, which investigators believe may have been used.
The three suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear before court. Police say investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding Mr Kyere's death and identify any other persons who may have been involved.
