CACG’s Emmanuel Wilson Jnr says Ghana must turn recommendations from corruption probes into real accountability measures, as the visa scandal draws scrutiny.
According to him, the country must move beyond investigating alleged wrongdoing. He argued that recommendations from such investigations must translate into practical steps that strengthen accountability.
Mr Wilson criticised Ghana’s wider approach to fighting corruption, saying investigations into past scandals often end without reforms that stop similar incidents from happening again.
“We investigate past scandals, make recommendations, but fail to implement measures to prevent them from happening again,” he said.
He also questioned the President’s handling of the matter. “Why is the President not telling the Sports Minister to step aside? Is it that the President knows something we don’t?” he asked.
The campaigner cautioned against turning investigations into public spectacles before the facts are established. “Good governance requires carrying citizens along, not creating public spectacles before the facts are established,” he said.
His comments come amid public attention on the visa scandal, with renewed questions about accountability and the steps the government is expected to take in addressing the controversy.
