Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win has been fined GH¢10,000 by the Supreme Court of Ghana for failing to appear in court in relation to his ongoing legal dispute with actress Martha Ankomah.
The fine follows what the court described as conduct amounting to disrespect, after neither Lil Win nor his legal representatives showed up for a scheduled hearing on March 31, 2026.
The case stems from a defamation suit filed by Martha Ankomah at the High Court of Ghana, in which she sought GH¢5 million in damages. Although both parties reportedly reached a settlement, Lil Win is said to have failed to honour the agreed terms in the months that followed.
As part of the settlement, the actor was expected to appear before the court on April 1, 2025, to present an apology for approval. However, he failed to attend, prompting the court to issue a final warning on April 15 for him to comply or face sanctions.
Subsequently, Lil Win initiated a series of legal applications, including a challenge to the jurisdiction of the case being heard in Accra instead of Kumasi. After his motion was dismissed, he proceeded to file for a stay of proceedings at the Court of Appeal, which was also rejected.
He later escalated the matter to the Supreme Court, seeking further relief. However, his absence at the latest hearing drew the court’s displeasure, leading to the imposition of costs of GH¢10,000 in favour of the plaintiff.
The ruling comes despite reports that both parties had recently made progress toward reaching another settlement in the long-running dispute.
