Ghanaian highlife singer, KK Fosu, has announced that he will contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections.
The musician disclosed that he is determined to unseat the constituency’s current Member of Parliament (MP), Sammy Awuku, expressing confidence that he has what it takes to emerge victorious.
Speaking in an interview, KK Fosu revealed that he had initially planned to contest the seat ahead of the 2024 elections.
However, his plans were put on hold after he was involved in a near-fatal accident with fellow musician Bless on the Apam-Winneba Highway.
According to the highlife artiste, he intends to contest the election as an independent candidate, challenging Sammy Awuku to do the same if he is confident of winning without the backing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
KK Fosu further asserted that he could defeat the incumbent lawmaker, regardless of whether he contests on the NPP ticket, arguing that the party no longer commands the influence it once did.
“I will contest as an independent candidate. If Sammy Awuku believes in his popularity, he should also contest without the NPP’s backing, and I will still defeat him,” he uttered
