Fourth unit at Akosombo Dam successfully brought into operation- Energy minster confirms

Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor has confirmed the successful restoration of the fourth generating unit at the Akosombo Dam, following the recent devastating fire incident that disrupted operations.

This announcement was made in a social media post on Tuesday April, 28, 2026 by John Abdulai Jinapor, highlighting it as a step to strengthen power generation across the country.

“At 9:09pm, the fourth unit at Akosombo Dam was successfully brought into operation, an encouraging step that strengthens power generation,” the Minister said.

He further praised the dedication and expertise of the team behind the effort.
