By: Ernest Okanta

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a fire that broke out on a Yutong bus at Gbogdaa in the Savannah Region.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 4, 2026, involving a Yutong bus with registration number GS 8482-17, which was reportedly loaded with electrical materials and other items.

GNFS explained that the fire started after an engine oil line split, causing oil to spill onto hot engine components and ignite.

The GNFS crew arrived at the scene at about 8:30 am and brought the fire under control before completely extinguishing it at 10:30 am.

According to the personnel, the fire extensively damaged the passenger compartment, roof, windows, seats and other parts of the bus, but no casualties were recorded.

The GNFS says further assessment and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
