Tema Oil Refinery is back – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the revival of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), marking what he described as a major milestone in Ghana’s energy sector recovery.

Delivering the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, President Mahama revealed that the refinery has resumed processing crude oil into petroleum products after years of inactivity.

“I’m also pleased to announce to you that the Tema Oil Refinery is back,” President Mahama stated.

He further highlighted that the refinery’s new management has successfully undertaken extensive turnaround maintenance works to restore the facility to operational status.

In addition, he assured Ghanaians that reforms within the energy sector are ongoing and making progress.

“Let me assure our country men and women that the energy sector reforms continue unabated,” he emphasised.

President Mahama added that he remains committed to turning around the sector, strengthening its foundation, and ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy security for the country.
