Bawa-Rock Limited, a gold trading and mining company based in Obuasi, has extended financial support to poultry farmers in the Greater Accra Region who were affected by the catastrophic June 29, 2026, flooding across the capital.
The relief package, totaling GH¢700,000, was presented to eight farmers on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Roman Ridge in Accra.
The company said the gesture is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Presenting the donations on behalf of Bawa-Rock Limited, Business Development Manager Mr. Eric Addae Boateng reiterated the company’s commitment to CSR and its efforts to revitalize the affected farmers' businesses.
He explained that the financial support was quantified to cover the loss of birds, capital, and other valuables.
Mr. Addae further noted that Bawa-Rock will continue to pursue supportive initiatives to ensure business owners are not handicapped by challenges, including natural disasters.
Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Association of Poultry Farmers, Mr. Titus Frederick Lutterodt, commended Bawa-Rock for its sustained and generous contribution.
He emphasised that the intervention would restore hope for the future of poultry businesses.
“Your kindness came at a moment when many of us [poultry farmers] have lost not only the birds and the farm structures but also our means of livelihood and hope for the future.
"The compensation has gone a long way in helping us begin with the process again to recover our buildings and farms,” said Mr. Titus.
For his part, Shak Al-Mohammed of Shak Farms said he was "overwhelmed” by Bawa-Rock Limited’s gesture to come to their aid during moments of despondency and despair.
He further expressed the farmers’ appreciation to the company, indicating that without this help, their plight would have worsened and re-operationalizing their businesses would have been nearly impossible.
Madam Abena Kyei, who has been engaged in poultry and piggery farming since 1995, recounted her repeated experiences with flooding disasters without external support.
She revealed that the June floods destroyed tens of thousands of her birds, leaving her discouraged and on the verge of quitting.
“I have my partners around here; I was so much discouraged, and we seriously gave up. My joy started arousing until I heard of Bawa-Rock,” she expressed.
