The National Identification Authority (NIA) has marked its 20th anniversary with public education and special mass registration activities in Accra.
The activities, held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, formed part of the NIA’s programme for this year’s Identity Day celebration and anniversary.
As part of the celebrations, the Authority organised a public education float that began at its Head Office and passed through principal streets around Shiashie and Accra Mall before ending at the Legon Business School.
During the float, NIA officials engaged members of the public on the Authority’s identification services and provided information on the locations of its district, premium and prestige centres.
The officials also educated the public on the applicable fees for the various identification services and encouraged residents to make use of the available registration facilities.
Following the float, the NIA held a special mass registration exercise at the Legon Business School, allowing members of the school community to register and access the Authority’s services.
The activities formed part of the NIA’s efforts to strengthen public awareness and improve access to identification services by bringing registration opportunities closer to residents.
The Identity Day celebrations will climax on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with an inter-agency sports competition at the Legon Sports Stadium.
