The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned chiefs and individuals against laying claim to KNUST lands.

Speaking to the media, he stressed that the lands are legally vested in the stool for the university’s use and that no one is permitted to take or sell any part of them.

He said he would never allow such actions.

"The land belongs to the golden stool, the chiefs and caretaker more Abusuapanyin has the land, they are all vested in the stool," he said.

He added that anyone who colludes with others to take matters involving the university’s lands to court, simply because they possess a diagram purporting to show acres of university land in order to sell or claim it, should stop because he will not allow those actions.

He also cautioned lawyers who support people claiming university land and encourage them to go to court, urging them to uphold professionalism. He said lawyers should not assist clients to litigate over land that does not belong to them when the land in question is university property.

"I wonder why some lawyers will go to do that when you are also a trained professional, the land belonging to the University and someone comes to you to say this land belongs to me and you support them to take to court.

"With all due respect professionalism does not necessarily means that anything at all must be taken to court when you know that this land is for the university, therefore those who are tempted to do that I am not going to allow it no matter what," he stated.
