The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Tema Region has strongly condemned attacks on its firefighters while they perform their duties.
This stance was articulated during court proceedings in Ashaiman involving fire officers and an accused individual who assaulted a firefighter on duty in Katamanso Promise Land.
DOII Ebenezer Yenzu stated that such assaults have persisted for a long time. He cited previous incidents in Katamanso, where cases are currently before the court.
He further noted assaults in other areas, including Kasoa, Madina, Konongor, and beyond.
DOII Yenzu assured firefighters of full institutional support, urging them never to relent in their work, and emphasised that justice would be pursued in all such cases.
He revealed that a bench warrant has been issued for the accused in the Katamanso Promise Land incident.
Mr Yenzu advised Ghanaians to refrain from such behaviour to avoid legal consequences.
"Seeing us her in Ashaiman port is the issue involving assault on our men who went to fight fire at Ashaiman around Katamamso New Land.
"The issue was reported to the police, is being filed at the court so is today the court called us to meet and as we're here this morning, you'll see our Regional Commander and some of our leaders are here.
"we are only here that to support our firefighters and let them know that, the leaders are behind them and anyhow the situation we'll not leave them behind," he explained.
