The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the City of Savannah have announced plans to undertake a major medical outreach programme in Ga Mashie in 2027.
The move is aimed at expanding access to healthcare and strengthening their longstanding sister-city relationship.
In a statement, the Assembly stated that the initiative is expected to screen and treat about 3,000 residents while delivering comprehensive healthcare services.
“Under the arrangement, the outreach will screen and treat approximately 3,000 patients and provide a full range of medical services, including consultations, medication, dental and eye care, as well as paediatric support,” the statement noted.
The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, disclosed that the initiative followed a visit by a 37-member medical mission team from Savannah, describing it as part of the health cooperation component of the sister-city partnership between Accra and Savannah.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Allotey welcomed the delegation, emphasizing that genuine partnerships are demonstrated through concrete action.
He assured the team of the Assembly’s readiness to align with their philanthropic efforts.
He further reaffirmed the AMA’s full commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the programme, describing it as a practical expression of the growing collaboration between the two cities.
