Nana Amanfo II calls for peaceful festival, cautions youth against drug abuse

The Traditional Ruler of Gomoa Akropong No. 2, Nana Odoom Amanfo II, has appealed to residents and visitors to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration of their 2026 festival in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

During his address, Nana Amanfo II urged the youth to conduct themselves responsibly before, during, and after the festival. He specifically cautioned them against drug abuse and other negative behaviours that could disrupt the peace of the community.

According to him, peace and discipline are essential for successful festivities and sustainable development. He stressed that any form of disturbance could undermine the true purpose of the celebration.

"Advice I will give to the youth is that it is about fighting and not the time to insult someone. If anyone is having issues with someone, kindly put it aside after the celebration of the festival. We will try and settle the issue; it is not about fighting.

"On Friday, we'll be going to...so I will please that as we'll be going, in case someone pushes you, don't say anything.

"All the chiefs will be attending, and everything that will happen, let the elders hear it. The Kontihene will be leading, and the Asafohene too is there."

"Secondly, we don't want anyone to drink alcohol, and some people will be having it in their pockets and drinking it, so we're pleading: parents, talk to your children," he warned.

Meanwhile, other traditional leaders have used the occasion to invite citizens at home and abroad to support the festival.

They explained that proceeds from the festival would be used to fund development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the people of Gomoa Akropong No. 2.
