A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Richard Manuribe, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to abolish the teacher licensure examinations by the end of August 2026.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, Mr Manuribe explained that the NDC’s pledge goes beyond merely scrapping the exams.
According to him, the policy will be restructured to integrate the evaluation process into the final examinations taken at the teacher training colleges.
“It’s not just about canceling the paper,” he said, “but about ensuring that the final exams written by the trainees will serve as their qualification to teach.”
Addressing concerns about delays in implementing the abolishment, Mr Manuribe noted that the process requires thorough planning and consultation before being fully realised.
He assured teacher trainees that by the end of August 2026, the licensure exams would be “a thing of the past,” fulfilling one of the NDC’s key commitments to the education sector.
