Cyber Security Authority to probe Russian man over viral videos with Ghanaian women

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has announced plans to investigate viral videos involving a Russian national, Vyacheslav Trahov, popularly known online as Yaytseslav, following widespread public outrage over clips showing his interactions with Ghanaian women.

The decision was confirmed by Benjamin Madugu, Director of Communication, International Cooperation and Strategic Partnership at the CSA, who addressed the controversy in a video message circulating online. He warned members of the public against further sharing of the videos, noting that doing so could amount to breaches of Ghana’s cyber and privacy laws.

Yaytseslav became a trending topic on Thursday, 12 February 2026, after videos surfaced online showing him approaching women in public spaces, including around Accra Mall, engaging them in conversation and later inviting some to his residence. According to reports, the encounters were recorded using Meta smart glasses, allegedly without the consent of the women involved, and subsequently published online.

The content was shared across platforms including TikTok, YouTube and a private Telegram channel, where full-length videos were reportedly made available to subscribers for a monthly fee of five dollars. Short edited clips circulated widely on social media, triggering backlash and raising concerns about privacy violations and the safety of unsuspecting individuals.

The videos sparked intense debate among Ghanaians, with many questioning how the foreign national was able to operate freely in the country and publish such content without immediate intervention. Initially, the man’s identity was unclear, as his face was obscured in most of the recordings.

Yaytseslav has since deleted the videos from TikTok and made his account private.

The Cyber Security Authority says investigations will focus on possible breaches of privacy and cyber-related laws, as it reiterates calls for responsible online behaviour while the matter is being examined.
