Communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Grace Akosua Amoabeng, has described the party as a sensible and non-violent opposition party.
Speaking on The Verdict on Starr FM, Tuesday, September 30, 2026, Grace Akosua Amoabeng said the NPP does not resort to violence when expressing its concerns as an opposition party.
She stressed that the party believes in peaceful demonstrations and adheres to the rules and regulations outlined by the police.
"We are not an opposition that is violent, we don't block roads leading to hospitals, we do not go and take the car keys of a police vehicle for them to arrest us," she said.
According to her, the NPP considers demonstrations a public activity that must be conducted within the established regulations.
"We are a very sensible and reasonable opposition party that we know that when we go for a peaceful demonstration we abide by the rules and the regulations of the police, because it's a public act that we use to conduct these demonstrations," she stated.
Grace Amoabeng further maintained that members of the party are expected to follow police procedures during demonstrations and avoid actions that could disrupt public order.
"So when we go on demonstrations, as sensible and wise as we are, we follow the rules and procedures of the police
we don't go and block roads and burn tyres and take car keys of police vehicles," Ms. Akosua Amoabeng uttered.
She added that failure to comply with police regulations could result in arrests, stating :
"If you go against the rules and the regulations of the police that is when you get arrested."
