Akufo-Addo urges NPP unity for 2028 victory

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the NPP to unite behind its newly elected executives and work towards victory in the 2028 elections.

Mr Akufo-Addo made the call following the party’s 2026 National Annual Delegates Conference in Kumasi, where John Boadu was elected National Chairman alongside other national officers.

He congratulated the outgoing National Executive Committee, led by former Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, for its service to the party.

He also commended the National Officers Elections Committee, chaired by Frederick Opare Ansah, and the delegates for the successful organisation and conduct of the conference.

According to Mr Akufo-Addo, the conference demonstrated the “vibrancy” of the NPP’s internal democratic processes, while he extended his best wishes to the newly elected executives for a successful mandate.

He said the conclusion of the conference should usher in a new phase of collective action under the party’s rallying call, “One Party, with One Purpose, United for Victory.”

“The time has come for all hands on deck so that the Party can emerge victorious from the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections,” Mr Akufo-Addo said.

He expressed confidence that victory would pave the way for a new NPP government under the leadership of the party’s presidential candidate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, which he said should promote the rule of law and the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians.

Mr Akufo-Addo concluded his message by praying for God’s blessings on the NPP and Ghana, and for the country to become “great and strong.”
