Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Samini has spoken out about the recent flooding crisis in the country.
Reacting to the recurring floods that continue to affect several communities across Ghana, the award-winning musician expressed concern over the country's planning system and why flooding remains a major challenge despite decades of development efforts.
In a post on X, he questioned the effectiveness of urban planning authorities and called for accountability. “We have been in charge of town and country planning since 1957, yet we see floods every year. Who has been doing the planning, Chale?”
Samini further criticised the approval of buildings in waterways and drainage channels, suggesting that those responsible should be held accountable for their actions. “The one who gave people permits to build homes in the drains is the one I’m looking for…mount a search, Chale,” he added.
The musician also extended his thoughts to those affected by the floods and urged the public to remember them during this difficult period.
