Shatta Wale offers support to Kwesi Arthur amidst contractual dispute

Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has expressed his readiness to support fellow musician Kwesi Arthur as the latter battles a serious contractual dispute with his former record label, GroundUp Chale.

During a TikTok live session, Shatta Wale stated he is willing to help Kwesi Arthur alongside industry colleagues Medikal, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie. He observed that while emotions are high, the matter at hand is legal and cannot be resolved through sentimental appeals alone.

Shatta Wale emphasised that Kwesi Arthur and his management are not necessarily to blame, noting that contracts are binding agreements that must be approached with care.

He added that if Kwesi Arthur reaches out to him directly, he would be more than willing to offer advice and support to help resolve the dispute.

A clip from the TikTok live session, later shared on X by user @kwessysela, captured Shatta Wale reiterating his willingness to step in and assist the rapper during this challenging period.

These comments follow Kwesi Arthur's recent post on X, in which he publicly voiced concerns regarding his situation with GroundUp Chale. In a troubling message, the musician wrote: “If anything happens to me, Glen Boateng and all team members of GroundUp Chale are responsible.”

Kwesi Arthur has since alleged that an ongoing contractual dispute has severely affected his music career and financial stability. In a strongly worded statement, he claimed he is unable to earn revenue from his past, present, or future works because his former label has assumed control over his catalogue.

The rapper further alleged that he has been asked to pay as much as $150,000 or risk having his newly released songs taken down from digital streaming platforms.

He accused his former manager, identified as Glen, of deliberately taking steps that could potentially jeopardise his career, claiming the situation has left him professionally constrained and financially stranded.

Kwesi Arthur, who rose to prominence under the GroundUp Chale imprint with multiple hit songs and international acclaim, did not disclose specific details of the contract but maintained that the dispute has made it difficult for him to release music freely and benefit from his creative output.
