June 4 set for start of Nana Akuoko-Sarpong’s final rites

The family of the late Omanhene of the Agogo Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Akuoko-Sarpong, has scheduled the start of his final funeral rites for June 4, 2026.

His daughter, AJ Akuoko-Sarpong, announced that the ceremonies will open with a 40-day observation at the Agogo Palace in the Ashanti Region.

She invited the general public to take part in the rites, encouraging all who respected or were impacted by the late chief to join the family in celebrating his life and legacy.

“Let us come together to pray for his peaceful rest and honour a man who served as a Paramount Chief, statesman, lawyer, and Minister of State, but above all, my father,” she stated.

AJ Akuoko-Sarpong described her father’s death as deeply painful, noting that the loss remains difficult for the family to process.

Nana Kwame Akuoko-Sarpong passed away on March 27, 2026, after a prolonged illness. He was widely recognised for his service to traditional leadership and his contributions to national development.

The family added that further details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in the coming weeks as customary rites continue toward his final burial.
