Ministry of Health announces investment to equip CHPS compounds and health centres

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that the Ministry has made an investment to equip frontline health facilities.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, he said the investment will provide the tools and equipment needed by, in particular, CHPS compounds and health centres to ensure quality and timely healthcare provision.

He also highlighted that the policy is supported by real resources, careful planning and determination to ensure that all Ghanaians have access to effective primary healthcare services.

“It is a clear demonstration that this policy is backed not just by commitment but by real resources, careful planning and determination to ensure every Ghanaian can access effective primary health care services,” he stated.

The Minister added that the Ministry will strengthen the digital systems required to support tracking and accountability, and that financing mechanisms have been aligned with, and fully integrated into, the National Health Insurance budget.

He noted that the Ministry will not create bureaucratic bottlenecks for the financing scheme, explaining that it will be handled by the National Health Insurance Scheme.

“Let me inform you that we are not going to reinvent the wheel, we are not going to set up any bureaucratic steps for the financing scheme, the financing is going to be done by our national health insurance scheme,” he said.
