Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician and choir leader Yaw Sarpong has passed away, family sources have confirmed.
The celebrated musician reportedly died on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Emena Hospital in Kumasi, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
Yaw Sarpong was a towering figure in Ghanaian gospel music and is best remembered as the long time leader of the Asomafoɔ Gospel Band. Under his leadership, the group produced several enduring gospel classics that helped define and shape modern gospel music in Ghana.
