'Imagine Ghana without the church; it would have been a survival-of-the-fittest society' - Ahmed Ibrahim

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has said that Ghana without the church would have been a survival-of-the-fittest society.

Speaking during a visit to The Church of Pentecost at Mamobi Zone, he emphasised that faith-based organisations support education, training and social values in Ghana.

He asserted that churches have consistently partnered with the government to build hospitals, prisons and schools, and to train people, teach them to love one another and promote peace and harmony noting that this, he said, is what Jesus Christ came for.

"Pentecost church and other churches in Ghana it is you that have been helping building churches, schools, hospitals, prisons and others which are training the children and teaching them to love; this is what Chris came for so we may love one another.

"Even they say our life in Ghana is not good then imagine if there was no church in Ghana what would Ghana be," he said.

Ahmed Ibrahim added that churches have also taken the lead in sanitation programmes, organising periodic environmental clean-up weeks to help keep the country clean.

He reiterated that President Mahama appreciates these contributions to national well‑being and encourages faith-based organisations to continue their work.

"What the president is saying is that, well done for the good works the faith-based organizations are doing in this country, he also thank you for the environmentally week that you brought that is helping in sanitation in the country," he stated.
