Accra Hearts of Oak has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament, citing clashes with the club’s existing programmes and preparations for the upcoming league season.
In a club release dated August 11, 2026, the Phobians said the scheduled dates of the tournament conflict with other pre-agreed activities on their calendar.
The club also expressed concern about the tournament’s proximity to the commencement of the new league season, saying participation at this stage could hinder its preparations and other commitments.
According to Hearts of Oak, management had earlier engaged GHALCA and requested a change to the tournament dates to enable the club’s participation.
However, the request did not result in any adjustment to the schedule.
“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” the statement said.
Hearts of Oak nevertheless expressed appreciation to GHALCA for its efforts in organising the 2026 Top-4 Tournament and wished the association and the participating clubs a successful competition.
The club also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.
