Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has called for honesty, clear communication and squad stability as Ghana face The Gambia in a crucial 2027 AFCON qualifier in Accra.
Ghana are under pressure after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in their Group C opener, while The Gambia began with a 2-1 win over Somalia.
“We need clarity. We need clarity in the communication with our players. We need honesty in the communication with our players,” Queiroz said.
The Portuguese coach also criticised frequent changes to the national team, saying consistency was essential to building a competitive side.
“You cannot build a winning team if you change every camp; you change seven, eight, nine players,” he said.
Queiroz acknowledged Ghana's immediate priority is securing three points against The Gambia, while also developing a stable core for future competitions.
“We have to win the game tomorrow,” he said. “But at the same time, we have to put the seeds of the future.”
Ghana are seeking a return to the AFCON finals after missing the 2025 tournament in Morocco, ending their long run of consecutive appearances.
