Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has left the club with immediate effect after just four matches in charge of the Porcupine Warriors.
The South African coach requested release from his contract for personal reasons, a decision the club’s Board of Directors has agreed to respect.
Asante Kotoko said it held discussions with Tinkler to prevent his departure at this stage of his tenure, but the coach ultimately stood by his decision to leave.
His exit comes days after Kotoko suffered a 2–0 defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday 4 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Tinkler was appointed the club’s permanent head coach on 17 July 2026, ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, replacing Karim Zito.
The 55-year-old leaves after four league matches, with his record standing at one win, two draws and one defeat.
Despite his brief spell, the club thanked Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment during his time with the Porcupine Warriors.
“Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is grateful to Coach Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment to the success of the club during his rather short stint with the Porcupine Warriors and wishes him well in his next endeavours.”
With Tinkler’s departure, Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo will lead the club’s sporting direction, while the existing technical team is expected to continue implementing Kotoko’s strategies and objectives.
