The Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources and Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya West, Gizzella Tetteh, has cut the sod for the construction of a six‑unit classroom block at Awutu Akrampa in the Awutu Senya West District.
The project aims to reduce congestion in existing classrooms and to improve teaching and learning conditions in the community.
Hon. Gizzella Tetteh, in collaboration with the District Assembly, distributed 1,080 ultra‑modern dual desks to basic schools across the district to address the furniture deficit affecting many schools.
Speaking to the media at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament outlined several educational and developmental projects she has initiated in partnership with the Assembly to enhance education and accelerate development in the district.
"Development in Awutu Senya West is really progressing and all the time I say we do the software and we do the hardware and the hardware as I called it is the hard core projects we're doing like infrastructure and others.
"And the software is the skill training and other things to make sure that ...and we're complimenting hardware and software together because these two works together," she stated.
She reaffirmed her commitment to continue supporting the constituency to improve the living standards of residents.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu Senya West, Kalala Nyamekye Eghan, stated that the Assembly, in collaboration with the MP, ensured the distribution of the 1,080 desks to selected schools and assured that all schools in the district would receive their fair share.
He noted that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Assembly and the MP to develop the district and improve the standard of living for constituents.
