Ghana’s music industry is set for a major spotlight at the AFRIMMA Music Festival 2026, with several artistes, producers, DJs, dancers and creatives earning nominations across various award categories.

Leading the country’s representation is Black Sherif, who secured nominations for Best Male West Africa, Best Male Rap Act, and AFRIMMA Album of the Year for his project IRONBOY. His hit song So It Goes has also been nominated for Song of the Year.

Moliy has also received recognition for her rising global profile, earning nominations in Best Female West Africa and Best Female Reggae/Dancehall categories. Her international hit Shake It to the Max is among the contenders for Song of the Year.

Other Ghanaian female artistes receiving nominations include Enam, who competes in Best Female West Africa, while Eno Barony and Freda Rhymz represent Ghana in the Best Female Rap Act category.

Ghana’s influence extends beyond performers, with producer MOG Beatz nominated for Music Producer of the Year and Babs Direction receiving recognition in the Best Video Director category. DJs Sly King and Akua have also earned nominations in Best DJ Africa and Best African DJ USA, respectively.

The country’s creative diversity is further highlighted by nominations for dancers Dancegod Lloyd and Incredible Zigi in Best African Dancer, while music duo DopeNation is nominated for Best African Group and Song of the Year with their song Kakalika.

Ghanaian-American artiste Moses Sumney has been nominated for Best African USA-Based Artiste, while Ogee The MC received recognition in the Best Hypeman/MC category.

Veteran rapper Sarkodie is also nominated for the AFRIMMA Timeless Impact Award, which celebrates artistes whose contributions have created lasting influence on African music and culture. Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale also earned a nomination in the Best Male Reggae/Dancehall category.

The AFRIMMA Music Festival 2026 returns after a brief hiatus, bringing together artistes, fans, media professionals and industry stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora for performances, cultural showcases and industry engagements.
