Three men have been remanded into police custody after being arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court in connection with the alleged lynching and murder of Yusuf Zakari at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi.

The incident occurred at Cattle Kraal, a suburb of Sabon Zongo, in the early hours of July 19, 2026. Zakari sustained severe injuries during the attack and was initially taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber; Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman; and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic, over their alleged involvement in the incident.

The three suspects appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs. Hilder Esther Wryter, who remanded them into police custody. The case has been adjourned to August 7, 2026.

According to the Ghana Police Service, investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any other persons who may have participated in the alleged attack.

The Police Service urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, stressing that grievances should be addressed through lawful means.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that everyone connected to the incident is identified and brought before the courts through due process.
