Nigerian music star Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, widely known as Iyanya, has opened up about the personal struggles that have shaped his love life, explaining why he remains single at the age of 39.
During a recent appearance on the Afropolitan podcast, the Kukere crooner disclosed the emotional toll that his past relationships have exacted on him.
Iyanya shared that his experiences with previous partners, whom he accused of manipulation and threats to expose private matters on gossip blogs, have left him traumatised and wary of commitment.
He noted that these repeated encounters have made it challenging for him to pursue a serious relationship or consider marriage, as he does not feel mentally ready.
Iyanya emphasised that, despite public perceptions, he has genuinely loved and committed in the past. However, the fear of having personal matters made public whenever misunderstandings arose has significantly affected his emotional well-being.
Additionally, the singer revealed that, as a result of his struggles with commitment, he has chosen to embrace celibacy. He admitted that staying celibate consistently remains a challenge.
