The former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emerged victorious in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary election.
The election, which took place on Saturday, January 31, saw the Electoral Commission (EC) declare Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the winner, enabling him to lead the party in the 2028 general election.
According to the EC's declaration, 196,462 votes were cast, of which 561 ballots were rejected. Dr. Bawumia secured 110,643 votes, representing 56.48% of the total. Following him was Kennedy Agyapong, who garnered 46,554 votes, equivalent to 23.76%.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong received 36,303 votes, constituting 18.53%. Additionally, Dr. Osei Adutwum received 1,999 votes, representing 1.02%, while Kwabena Adjei Agyapong garnered 402 votes, amounting to 0.21% of the total.
With this result, Dr. Bawumia is set to lead the NPP in its quest for victory in the upcoming general elections.
