Concerns are growing over the whereabouts of Richard Nana Basoah, popularly known as “Papa Rich,” after Ahwenepa 95.5 FM confirmed reports that he was taken away by unidentified men on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
According to a statement from Joyken Platinum Company Ltd., operators of Ahwenepa 95.5 FM, a radio station based in Juaso in the Ashanti Region, the incident occurred at about 6:20 p.m., shortly after Mr Basoah had ended his evening drive-time programme at the station’s premises.
The broadcaster said two black Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles reportedly arrived at the station before a group of men approached Mr Basoah and escorted him away.
Eyewitness accounts cited by the company claimed the men were armed and said they were taking him to “National” to answer questions concerning statements he had allegedly published.
Mr Basoah, who also serves as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Officer for the Asante Akim South Constituency, is at the centre of growing concern from both his employers and the party over his safety and whereabouts.
In a separate statement, the Communications Directorate of the NPP Asante Akim South Constituency confirmed receiving reports that its Communications Officer had been picked up by unidentified men at the Juaso T-Junction earlier in the day.
The party said the circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear and that it was making efforts to establish the facts while engaging the relevant authorities and Mr Basoah’s family.
“We are deeply concerned about his safety and well-being and call on anyone with credible information regarding his whereabouts to immediately contact the nearest security agency or the appropriate party leadership,” the NPP said.
The party also urged the public to remain calm, avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified information that could interfere with efforts to establish the facts.
It expressed solidarity with Mr Basoah and his family, while hoping for his safe and immediate return.
