The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare, has led a delegation of ECOWAS trade and industry ministers on an industrial tour of Kasapreko PLC, one of Ghana’s leading indigenous beverage manufacturers.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations and Communications Update of the Ministry, the visit, as part of ECOWAS’s efforts to promote regional industrialisation and strengthen intra‑African trade, gave ministers and representatives from member states firsthand insight into Kasapreko’s production facilities, quality assurance systems and export operations in Accra.
Welcoming the delegation, Kasapreko Managing Director, Mr Richard Adjei, highlighted the company’s growth from a local beverage producer into a recognised brand distributed across numerous African and international markets.
He emphasised the company’s commitment to innovation, value addition, job creation and adherence to international standards, noting that Kasapreko currently exports 20 percent of its products within the sub‑region.
After the tour, Hon. Ofosu‑Adjare commended Kasapreko for contributing to Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda and promoting locally manufactured products beyond Ghana’s borders.
She said companies like Kasapreko demonstrate African industries’ potential to compete effectively in regional and global markets when supported by sound policies and a favourable investment environment.
The minister also highlighted persistent non‑tariff barriers that continue to impede the smooth movement of goods and services across ECOWAS borders, stressing that addressing these challenges is critical to unlocking regional integration and enhancing business competitiveness in West Africa.
ECOWAS Commissioner representatives expressed admiration for the scale of operations and technological advancement observed, describing Kasapreko as a model for industrial development in the region.
They emphasised the need for partnerships to accelerate manufacturing growth across West Africa.
Participants agreed that stronger collaboration between governments and the private sector is critical to achieving sustainable industrial development and economic integration in the region.
