Women entrepreneurs have been encouraged to deepen financial literacy, strengthen professional networks, and embrace collaboration as key pathways to sustainable business growth and wealth creation.
The call was made by the founder of Blue Power Energy, Salma Okonkwo, at the 6th Global Women’s Professional and Business Exchange Conference and Expo held in Accra.
The event, themed “Building Generational Wealth – Wealth Preservation and Creation,” brought together women leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals focused on advancing leadership development, innovation, and economic empowerment.
“It would not always be smooth, but what we should ensure we do is to be intentional, to be deliberate. We should persist and not fall,” she said.
Okonkwo stressed that building strong professional networks is essential for long-term success.
“Women must create a network where people support each other,” she noted. She further underscored the importance of mentorship in shaping future women leaders and entrepreneurs.
“We should not only build businesses, but also build people who can build others,” she added.
For her part, a National Insurance Commission (NIC) official, Nicolina Adumuah, highlighted the importance of financial literacy and inclusion across all levels of society, particularly for women operating in both formal and informal sectors.
“When you look at the class of women that are in there, you are not only looking at the affluent, but also people in the informal sector as well,” she said.
She explained that such platforms help broaden understanding of financial risks, business management, and available support systems.
“These conferences help shape the entire society,” she stated.
Adumuah further encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the conference in their professional and entrepreneurial activities.
“What you learn here must reflect in your decisions and practice,” she added.
Over its five editions, the Global Women’s Professional and Business Exchange Conference and Expo has become a leading international platform hosted in Ghana, attracting women executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and emerging leaders from across sectors.
Since it started, the conference has offered capacity-building workshops, mentorship programmes, and investment-focused forums to strengthen women-led enterprises and expand access to opportunities.
It has also featured exhibitions showcasing women-owned businesses and innovations, while fostering dialogue between financial institutions, regulators, and entrepreneurs to improve access to capital and business support.
Additionally, the conference has helped bridge the gap between formal financial systems and informal sector entrepreneurs, while promoting policy discussions on women’s economic empowerment, leadership, and inclusion.
