Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has forecast a substantial loss for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2028 general elections, claiming that any candidate representing the party is destined to be defeated decisively.
During her appearance on Asempa FM, she contended that the NPP is still feeling the repercussions of their defeat in the 2024 elections, making it improbable for them to mount a credible resurgence.
“The largest opposition party in Ghana should not participate in the forthcoming elections. The aftershocks of the 2024 elections are still impacting them, hindering their ability to concentrate.
"Instead, they ought to dedicate time to rejuvenate their party. It would be more strategic for them to select candidates for Parliament rather than for the presidency in 2028,” she commented.
Nana Yaa Jantuah pointed out improvements in the current economic landscape under President John Mahama, noting lower fuel prices and her personal experience of filling her car for as little as GH¢200.
She also commended President Mahama’s performance, emphasising that he has been honoured with the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award in West Africa.
“In light of the current challenges within the NPP, they are unlikely to succeed. Many Ghanaians perceive the party as still grappling with internal difficulties.
"Meanwhile, the situation in the country is improving; petrol prices have fallen, and President Mahama has even received the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award for his outstanding work in West Africa,” she articulated.
