Police Inspector interdicted over alleged defilement of 14-year-old daughter

A police inspector, Desmond Owusu Afriyie, has been arrested and interdicted by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command over allegations that he defiled his 14-year-old daughter.

The case is being handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Agona District, where investigations are currently underway.

According to a statement from the police, the complaint was filed on 4th November 2025 by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua in the Eastern Region on behalf of her daughter, Cecilia Owusu Afriyie, alleging sexual abuse by her biological father.

Following the report, the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to support ongoing investigations.

Police indicated that the suspect later reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU on 20th February 2026, where he was arrested, interrogated, and released on enquiry bail after denying the allegations. He has since been directed to report periodically to assist investigations.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command confirmed that the officer has been interdicted to allow for full and impartial investigations into the matter.

Authorities say a thorough probe is underway and assured the public that updates will be provided as the case progresses.
