The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has assured that Ghanaians will continue to enjoy a consistent power supply.
Speaking during the “Resetting Ghana Tour”, he stressed that transmission is improving, adding that he has tasked the Energy Commission and all power sector players to carry out a comprehensive review of the sector in order to identify problems for resolution.
“In the generation side we have consistent supply of power, the transmission is improving.”
“The last mile and as minister I tasked all the energy commission and all the power sector players to undertake a comprehensive review of the sector,” he stated.
He added that the challenges facing the sector stem from ageing electrical equipment that has become outdated, noting that some units are around 30 years old.
He asserted that the government has started an unprecedented comprehensive programme, which he said will ensure the installation of 2,500 transformers across Ghana to maintain a smooth power supply.
“We know the problem is from aging absolute equipment some of which are about 30 years old and so we have started an unprecedented comprehensive programme, we are installing 2,500 transformers across the whole of Ghana,” he uttered.
