Free Primary Healthcare Policy fully planned, will cost ₵1.2 Billion annually — Health Minister

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured the public that the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative is well-planned and not a rushed policy.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, he emphasised that the programme is the result of careful planning, broad stakeholder engagement, and detailed financial projections.

“We have done the costing, so If you want a monthly estimate, you can divide it by 12 and get the figure.

“This is not an ad hoc programme or project, we have thought it through, we have engaged widely, we have done our projections, and we know what we are doing.” he said.

According to him, the government has already completed the costing for the initiative and estimates that at least ₵1.2 billion will be required annually to implement it effectively.

“Costing, yes we have done the costing, and we need not less than ₵1.2 billion a year to be able to run this,” he stated.
