Freddie Blay granted GH₵800,000 bail by Koforidua High Court

The Koforidua High Court Two, presided over by His Lordship George Krofa Addae, has granted bail to former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Freddie Blay in connection with a land dispute case originating from the Akropong Circuit Court.

Earlier, the Akropong Circuit Court had denied the former chairman bail and remanded him into custody for three weeks. His legal team, led by Godfred Dame, then applied to the Koforidua High Court for bail.

The High Court has since granted the bail application in the sum of GH₵800,000 with two sureties.

Speaking to the media, Godfred Dame, legal counsel for Freddie Blay, revealed that there would be difficulties in granting a person bail in such a case.

"For him to put two public servants we were, not necessarily hard but a little bit harsh but it was varied the way it was done.

"I will say that I'm very much deploy and conduct ... we're saying such conduct apart from binging the judiciary too is ... and this is not a matter that a bail would be granted to any person at all, no matter how High standing or low standing the person is to the society.

"So how would you treat him this way especially when there's even no evidence of service of summon and what are view," Mr Dame recounted.
