Ghana captain Jordan Ayew is edging closer to a move to Sheffield United as talks over a return to the English Championship gather pace.
The 34-year-old forward has been without a club since July, when his contract with Leicester City expired.
Sheffield United are understood to be leading the race for Ayew, with Blackburn Rovers and Burnley also reportedly showing interest in the experienced striker.
A move to Sheffield United would mark another chapter in Ayew’s long career in English football, where he has spent the past 11 years.
Ayew has featured prominently in the Premier League during spells with Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, establishing himself as one of Ghana’s most experienced players in the English game.
His potential return to the Championship comes as he weighs his next career move after leaving Leicester City and remaining a free agent since July.
