Avenor building collapse: rescue operation ends, two confirmed dead

Rescue operations at the site of a collapsed three-storey building at Avenor in North Kaneshie have officially ended, with authorities confirming that two people have died in the incident.

Emergency responders recovered the bodies of the victims after hours of coordinated search and rescue efforts at the scene of the collapse, which occurred on Sunday, June 7.

Two other individuals were successfully pulled from the debris alive and transported to hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

The operation involved personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), alongside other security and emergency response agencies, who worked through the day in an effort to locate possible survivors trapped under the rubble.

Authorities confirmed that the final death toll stands at two, with no additional victims recovered after the completion of the rescue phase.

Although the immediate rescue operation has concluded, officials say investigations into the cause of the structural failure are expected to begin to determine what led to the collapse.
