Chairman of the June 3rd Flood and Fire Victim Association (FFVA), Thomas Sakyi, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and provide long‑awaited support.
Speaking to the media, Mr Sakyi recounted the painful aftermath of the disaster. He noted that the tragedy occurred on a Wednesday and that, coincidentally, eleven years later the anniversary also falls on a Wednesday, yet life for survivors remains unbearable.

According to Mr Sakyi, many victims continue to suffer extreme hardship, with some unable to afford food or medicine.
He further lamented that survivors are often rejected by government appointees and stakeholders whenever they seek assistance.
“The stigma alone kills us, adding that the loss of property and livelihoods has left many in despair", he said.
Mr Sakyi explained that he faces constant pressure from members of the association to secure compensation from the government, but all efforts have proven futile.

He stressed that some victims have even lost their lives in the years following the incident due to neglect and lack of support.
He appealed directly to President Mahama, stating “eleven years on, nothing has changed".
"My people are dying because they cannot afford medicine, we need urgent intervention," he added.
