President Mahama appeals to diaspora for investment at Ghana‑UK Summit 2026

President John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians living abroad to seize fresh business opportunities in Ghana as he highlighted the country’s improving economic prospects.

Speaking during an engagement with the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom and Ireland on the sidelines of the Ghana‑UK Investment Summit 2026, he described the diaspora as a critical partner in Ghana’s development, calling them the nation’s “17th region” and inviting them to play a central role in the country’s ongoing economic transformation.

“Ghana is opened for business and ready to welcome investors, the door is open, come invest, come build, come home,” he stated.

The President noted a major milestone achieved in 2025, as non‑traditional exports reached a record US$5 billion, highlighting recent gains under his administration’s Reset Agenda.

He also pointed to steady expansion in Ghana’s manufacturing sector as evidence of the country’s resilience and readiness for increased investment.

He asserted that these developments show that Ghana is open for business, stressing that the growth of exports and manufacturing has created new prospects for both local and foreign investors.

He encouraged diaspora Ghanaians to consider direct investment in enterprises at home and to support development initiatives that can accelerate job creation and industrial advancement.

"The positive performance of the export and manufacturing sectors demonstrates Ghana’s resilience and readiness to attract both local and foreign investment," he said.
