2026 U-17 WWCQ: Black Maidens set up final qualifier clash with Senegal after dominant win over Liberia

The Black Maidens booked their place in the last qualifying phase with a 2-0 away win in Monrovia on Saturday, sealing an emphatic 8-0 aggregate triumph over Liberia.

Goals from Seidatu Wahab and Juliana Gyekyewaa ensured Ghana completed the job in style after their 6-0 first-leg victory in Accra.

Head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa made several changes to the starting lineup, introducing Latifah Musah, Priscilla Mensah, and Linda Achiaa as part of squad rotation ahead of the next phase.

Both sides showed early intent in the opening 10 minutes, creating chances but failing to convert before Ghana eventually broke the deadlock.

Seidatu Wahab opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well-taken free-kick, giving Ghana a 1-0 lead at the break.

Six minutes into the second half, Juliana Gyekyewaa replicated the feat with another set-piece goal to double the advantage and effectively put the tie beyond Liberia’s reach.

Ghana managed the remainder of the match comfortably to secure a 2-0 win on the day and complete a dominant qualification run.

The result sets up a final qualifying round fixture against Senegal, with both teams battling for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The decisive round of matches is scheduled to take place between July 3 and July 12.
