Vice President commissions 100 new buses to revitalise transportation sector

Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has commissioned 100 new buses for Metro Mass Transit L Limited (MMTL) and the Ministry of Transport.

The aim is to ease commuters' burden, improve accessibility, and provide a more reliable and affordable option, while restoring dignity and confidence in the public transport system.

Addressing the ceremony, the Vice President stated that the rollout forms part of a broader intervention to deploy 300 buses nationwide.

According to her, the buses have been fully registered, insured, inspected, and prepared for operation in high-demand areas across the country.

Mrs. Opoku Agyemang described the intervention as part of the government's long-term industrialisation agenda to increase local participation in the manufacturing and assembly of transport components in Ghana.

Speaking on the matter, the Vice President emphasized that “commuters deserve a transport system that is safe, reliable, and respectful of their needs.”

She also urged management to ensure proper maintenance and disciplined operation of the buses, stressing that public investment must be matched with accountability and quality service delivery.
