DVLA deploys clone detection machines to strengthen vehicle verification

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has introduced advanced clone detection machines, known as OBD II scanners, to enhance vehicle verification and safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s vehicle registration system.

According to the statement, the Authority's deployment of the devices is aimed at detecting vehicles that have been fraudulently cloned using stolen Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs).

DVLA stated that these illegal practices often involve vehicles imported through unapproved channels, duplicating the identities of legitimate vehicles awaiting

registration.

The Authority continued that such activities have, in some instances, led to genuine vehicle owners being wrongly flagged as having already registered their vehicles, creating unnecessary complications and disputes.

The DVLA urged stakeholders to cooperate fully with its officers as it intensifies efforts to promote safety and security within Ghana’s vehicle registration regime.
