NSA receives 100 seized galamsey machines for agriculture project

The National Service Authority (NSA) has received 100 pumping machines confiscated from illegal mining operations to support a major agricultural expansion initiative under the government’s FEED GHANA Project.

The equipment was officially handed over by Colonel Dominic Buah, Director of Operations at the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat, during a brief ceremony held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

According to officials, the machines were seized during targeted operations against illegal mining activities and are now being repurposed to support national development through agriculture.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the NSA, Director-General Ms. Ruth Dela Seddoh said the machines will significantly aid the Authority’s plans to cultivate 20,000 acres of maize and 10,000 acres of tomatoes in the coming days.

She noted that the initiative forms part of efforts to support the government’s flagship FEED GHANA Project, which seeks to strengthen food security, reduce reliance on imports, and create employment opportunities for young people.

Ms. Seddoh added that the agricultural programme is also expected to provide practical opportunities for newly deployed national service personnel across the country.

The handover marks one of the latest efforts by authorities to redirect confiscated equipment from illegal mining operations into productive national use.
