Okuapeman Global has called for calm and restraint following a chieftaincy dispute in Akropong that has claimed one life.
In a statement signed by Nana Bekoe Dankwa, Tufuhene of Adweso-Akuapem and founder of the Okuapeman Global community platform and its affiliated foundation, the group described the incident as “deeply saddening,” noting that it has cast a pall over the entire Akuapem State.
The group extended condolences to the bereaved family, expressing hope that they would find strength and comfort in the wake of the tragedy.
Okuapeman Global, which connects and engages Akuapem people and friends of Okuapeman both in Ghana and in the diaspora for development purposes, emphasised the urgent need for peace, unity, and dialogue within Akropong and the wider Akuapem enclave.
It warned that the escalation of violence in chieftaincy-related disputes highlights the fragility of communal harmony, urging all stakeholders to pursue peaceful engagement and mutual understanding in resolving the matter.
The group further appealed to Akuapem indigenes at home and abroad to remain calm and support efforts aimed at securing an amicable and lasting resolution to the crisis.
