Former President Akufo-Addo to lead the African Union Elections Observation Mission to the Republic of Congo

The African Union (AU) has appointed Ghana's former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to lead its Elections Observation Mission in the Republic of Congo in the coming week.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, March 10, the presidential elections are scheduled to take place in the Central African country on March 15, 2026. 

The statement revealed that the AU Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) will comprise members from the AU Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC), the Pan African Parliament (PAP), the African Governance Platform, election management bodies, independent election experts, civil society organisations, and representatives of women's and youth groups.

Furthermore, it was noted that the former President of Ghana is expected to depart from Accra on Friday, March 13, and return on March 18, 2026.

The statement was released and signed by the Office of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President of the Republic of Ghana.
